Integrating Commvault SaaS with Secret Server

Third-party vendors create and maintain this integration. Delinea does not guarantee that the integration will work properly or that it respects Delinea product limitations. Delinea has not reviewed this integration and Delinea Support staff can only assist with the Delinea side of setup.

Integrating Delinea with Commvault allows to secure and manage credentials outside of the Commvault platform. Credentials are retrieved dynamically as needed to perform data protection operations. This eliminates the need for users to have direct access to privileged account credentials, thus reducing the risk of credential theft, misuse, and cyber attacks. Secret Server offers additional auditing controls, and lifecycle automation policies so you audit privileged access, and rotate credentials on a regular basis to enhance security without impact to data protection operations. This feature provides a secure and efficient way for organizations to manage privileged account access and remain compliant.

Integration Capabilities

The integration between Commvault Cloud and Delinea Secret Server enables joint customers to strengthen credential security across backup and recovery workflows:

  • Centralized credential management: Store, rotate, and govern backup credentials in Secret Server's vault, reducing operational complexity and eliminating unmanaged or orphaned accounts in backup systems.

  • Dynamic, secure retrieval: Credentials are retrieved from Secret Server only when needed for backup or restore operations, rather than being stored locally in the backup environment.

  • Reduced attack surface: No locally stored credentials in backup systems. Temporary credentials are issued per job and automatically revoked upon completion, minimizing the window for credential misuse.

  • Audit and compliance support: Enforce least-privilege policies and generate detailed activity logs to support compliance initiatives including SOX, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and GDPR.

The integration is available globally to joint customers at no additional cost.

This integration works only with Secret Server Cloud and is not compatible with the Delinea Platform (Secret Server on the Delinea Platform).

This third-party integration does not natively support the Delinea Platform (Secret Server on the Delinea Platform). Once upgraded to the Delinea Platform, the integration will continue to function properly as long as the application account used for the integration remains in Secret Server. Once fully upgraded to the Platform service account model, the existing integration will no longer work with Secret Server on the Delinea Platform as all identity data will be moved to the Delinea Platform and will no longer be maintained in Secret Server.
