Approval Rules for Catalog Requests

Create an Approval Rule for PM approval

If only one approver is added to the approval rule, a request initiated by the approver will be automatically rejected. If no approval rule is created, all requests will be auto-approved.

  1. Log into ServiceNow with an Admin account.

  2. Navigate to All > PAS for Servers > Approval Rules.

  3. Select New to create a new Approval Rule. The Approval Rules screen opens.

  4. In the Short Description field, enter a name for the Approval Rule.

  5. In the Variable Condition field, select the following variables from the dropdown:

    • Created

    • after

    • Yesterday

  6. In the Approval Type field, select the Required option from the dropdown.

  7. Type 2 in the Order field. This is necessary if more than one approval rule is created for Auto Approvals.

  8. Select the Active checkbox.

  9. Select the User Approval checkbox.

  10. Select the Approver and provide the approval role (x_delinea.approver) to the same user.

  11. Select Update.

Create an Approval Rule for automatic approval of a specific Zone Role/Roles/Commands

  1. Log into ServiceNow with an Admin account.

  2. Navigate to All > PAS for Servers > Approval Rules.

  3. Select New to create a new Approval Rule. The Approval Rules screen opens.

  4. In the Short Description field, enter a name for the Approval Rule.

  5. In the Variable Condition field, open the dropdown and select Show related fields, then select Variables.

  6. Select one of the following options:

    1. The application and Zone Role (Zone Role name)

    2. The application and Role (Role name)

    3. The application and Command (Command name)

    4. You can add multiple Zone Roles or Roles or Commands or combination of all three in a single Approval Rule.

  7. In the Approval Type field, select the Automatic option from the dropdown.

  8. Type 1 in the Order field.

  9. Select the Active checkbox.

  10. Select Update.
