Discovery and Remote Password Changes

Secret Server provides a centralized and secure way to manage account credentials. This helps to protect these credentials from unauthorized access, and it helps to prevent data breaches. Remote Password Changing (RPC) allows secrets to update a corresponding remote account automatically. To ensure the synchronization of subject accounts with the Secret Server, you can configure the secrets for automatic expiration. Additionally, you can enable automatic strong password generation and initiate a remote password update.

Discovery is the process where the Secret Server scans an environment to find accounts and associated resources called dependencies. Once accounts are found, they can be used to create new secrets in Secret Server. By using discovery, your Secret Server offsets the burden of keeping track of computers and accounts on your network. This can be especially beneficial when getting started for discovering and importing accounts in bulk, as well as having Secret Server find accounts and create secrets whenever a new machine or account is provisioned.
