Certificate Requirements for Web Password Filler in Chrome

Web Password Filler requires properly signed certificates to connect to on-premises Secret Server installations. Because Chrome's Manifest V3 implementation does not support self-signed certificates, you must use certificates signed by a Certificate Authority (CA).

To set up CA-signed certificates:

  1. Set up a local CA if your organization does not already have one.

  2. Install the CA root certificate as a trusted certificate authority on the computers where Web Password Filler will be used.

  3. Create a certificate signed by your CA.

  4. Install the CA-signed certificate on your Secret Server nodes.

Web Password Filler can now connect to Secret Server.
