Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Versions
Delinea currently uses Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 levels A and AA to standardize accessibility approaches. We are anticipating incorporating WCAG 2.2 into our workflows and planning, particularly the following Level A and Level AA criteria:
The following success criteria are new in WCAG 2.2:
-
2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) (AA)
-
2.5.7 Dragging Movements (AA)
-
2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) (AA)
-
3.2.6 Consistent Help (A)
-
3.3.7 Redundant Entry (A)
-
3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum) (AA)
Due to the Section 508 Refresh in 2018 for the US federal agencies, and other policies from other nations are aligned to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), this VPAT uses WCAG 2.1 and includes cross-referencing for Revised Section 508 and EN 301 549. However, Delinea policy is guided by WCAG 2.1 levels A and AA. For clarification on how this corresponds with specific client requirements or agency policies please consult your accessibility professional or team.
For more information on WCAG 2.1 and the different levels, please refer to the official document maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C): https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/ . Whether an application, website, or electronic document supports WCAG at any level does not guarantee accessibility; standards like WCAG are a foundation and common framework between products, services, and providers even though the final test of accessibility is user experience.
Accessibility Reporting and Roles
As the Administration version of the accessibility conformance report included every task and feature a business user would encounter as well (i.e., Administration also included the User-facing Roles), the use of “role-based VPATs” has been discontinued as of the 11.4 Secret Server release. Starting from the VPAT accessibility report for the 11.4 Secret Server release, only one VPAT is used for Secret Server to report on accessibility.
Consistent Identification/Consistent Labeling
Delinea is aware of inconsistencies mainly relating to labels and phrasing. These issues are being addressed as part of a concerted, company-wide effort for greater consistency across products.
Browser Compatibility and Interactions
Secret Server was developed with the Chrome browser in mind. When on MacOS systems using Safari, Secret Server may behave unexpectedly which would impact keyboard interactions and the use of VoiceOver may not be optimized. While MacOS compatibility is being improved as a company-wide effort throughout Delinea, we still recommend using a compatible Chromium-based browser for your system.
Known Issues
These issues affect multiple groups of users and if these issues are addressed, are known to help meet multiple WCAG Success Criteria.
Keyboard Navigation
-
Drag-to-drop pattern for reordering lists or items is still being remediated for a keyboard accessible pattern, and due to the WCAG 2.2 success criteria 2.5.7 Dragging Movements.
-
Banner alert behavior: banner alerts are announced to screen readers before the rest of the page; however, when using keyboard to navigate through the application, the alert controls are encountered after Secret Server navigation pane (and are first in main region order).
ARIA and Screen Reader Usage
Screen reader improvements were made in 11.6 and tested using NVDA; please be aware that further improvements are being made across multiple products to increase usability and compatibility for screen reader users; accessibility bugs are being tracked, but there is often variation between screen readers especially with parsing ARIA supports.
