Working with Appliances in a Cluster

You can configure SafeNet KeySecure appliances and clients to use multiple tiers to support high availability, disaster recovery, and load balancing. All of the appliances configured as a cluster in the same tier automatically perform load balancing within that tier. The Delinea Connectors that you install and configure for communication with KeySecure appliances will automatically try to connect to the appliances in the first tier in a “round robin” sequence. If all of the appliances in the first tier go down, however, the connectors will attempt to connect to the appliances in the second tier.

To configure communication for multiple appliances in multiple tiers, you can use the following formatting convention for the KeySecure IP addresses:

  • Use a colon ( : ) to separate the IP addresses within the same tier.
  • Use a pipe character ( | ) to separate the IP addresses in different tiers.
